Yellow Water Billabong, Kakadu National Park, NT

Going on one of the award winning cruises at the Yellow Water Billabong is supposed to be one of the highlights of any visit to Kakadu National Park.  Both Andrew and Heather had independently gone for a cruise many years ago and loved the experience.  So we figured it was time to introduce the boys to the place!

We all enjoyed our guide Ruben's detailed and entertaining commentary, as we cruised along. As you can see from the photos, we got a good close up look at lots of crocodiles, many bird species, turtles, as well as spotting wild horses out on the flood-plain.  Ruben is from country (indigenous), so it was very interesting hearing his families' histroy in the area, and how all the animals, the land, their customs and living practises all linked together. We learnt so much about the indigenous people - an amazing people!
