Marlborough, QLD

Plenty of the entries on this blog show us living it up in fancy caravan parks,  so I thought I'd better show you what happens in between. Last night we free-camped by a little back-road near Marlborough and cooked baked-bean jaffles on an open fire. Just as much fun!

Airlie Beach, QLD

We've reluctantly turned south and started heading for home, albeit still 3 and-a-bit weeks and 2600km away. The first stopover was Airlie Beach, which really put forward the idea that we should just give up on going home and stay in QLD. Palms hanging over white beaches is a vision that is going to be hard to walk away from!

The park was a pretty cool place, with a great resort-style pool, mini-golf and an outdoor movie theater that the boys enjoyed.

Heather and Andrew enjoyed walking along the beach to the local markets.

It actually started to rain as we packed up (only lasted 20 minutes). This is only time we've had to pack in the rain in two and a half months!

Magnetic Island, FNQLD

I gave Heather a chance to go paragliding for her birthday, and while she loved the idea, she thought that instead of just her enjoying a 30 minute paragliding ride, she'd prefer all of us to go out to Magnetic Island for the day instead. So... who are we to argue with the birthday girl!

In the end she had a wonderful birthday and we all enjoyed a fun filled day exploring the island in a tiny topless buzz-box of a car, snorkeling at all the great beaches we found. Trying to break open coconuts we'd found washed up amongst the rocks was fun too!
