Heather and I visited Fraser Island whilst on our honeymoon and we'd been looking forward to visiting it again. In the end this time it looked like it might be a bit too much of a challenge in our vehicle and just not worth the risk. We'll come back another time! We stayed at Tin Can Bay, opposite the southern end of the island instead.
Apart from enjoying the beautiful scenery and views of the island, we were able to feed wild dolphins in the bay, as well as explore the area. We drove the 11km up the beach from Rainbow Beach to Inskip Point, where you get the barge to Fraser Island. The Territory had absolutely no problems with sand, even crossing the soft sand at the beach access point without incident. We also drove part of the way south down the beach towards Noosa to view the coloured sand cliffs. You can actually drive all the way from Rainbow Beach to North Noosa on the beach, but not advisable towing a caravan! Heaps of fun!
